We believe in the sort of craftsmanship that lives on and on. In design that never dates and joinery that endures. To us, that’s the definition of timelessness.
When our family business was first established more than a century ago, things looked a little different to say the least. Home was a hardware shop, and the team you could count on one hand. Over time, we went from ironmongery into joinery, caring from the very beginning about only making things in the way that they deserved to be made. It was this fundamental philosophy and our uncompromising exacting standards that paved the way for 1909. Now in our fifth generation, the founding principles remain unchanged. 1909 is meticulous in thinking and in doing, is committed to the finest details, and to putting our customers first. It always has been, and always will be.
The way that we approach our collections is that they are merely the starting point. Slab is our most contemporary and Ovolo our most classic with Shaker somewhere between the two. But a 1909 kitchen is always true to its heritage with every aspect ready to be tailored to your preferences, from your colours and worksurfaces, right through to your hinges, beading and what goes on behind the doors.
Your 1909 cabinetry is designed and made here in our own County Durham headquarters. We’re proud to have a team that encompasses not just fastidious joiners and carpenters, but also stone experts who hand-finish our worksurfaces on-site as well as the innovators behind our industry-leading paint process.
